How Newcastle could line up after January with SEVEN more transfers including Lingard, Alli and new back four

NEWCASTLE could have a much different look by the end of the transfer window if Eddie Howe manages to land all of his transfer targets.

The Magpies have already signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood this month but they are scouring the market for more additions.

Signing a centre-back appears to be at the top of Howe's agenda with Sevilla star Diego Carlos high on his wishlist.

But the Spanish side are demanding more than £30million for the defender so it could be a tall order for Newcastle to bring him in, particularly with other Premier League clubs interested.

Burnley's James Tarkowski is another target but the Clarets are not keen to do business given the nature of Wood's departure.

And the new-look defence could be completed by Atalanta and Germany left-back Robin Gosens, who impressed at Euro 2020 last summer.

Scoring goals still appears to be an issue for Toon at present with Wood's arrival yet to remedy the situation despite a 1-0 win over Leeds on Saturday.

Jesse Lingard has been heavily linked with an exit from Manchester United this month and he has emerged as a top target for Newcastle.

The Magpies initially had a loan bid rejected by the Red Devils but Newcastle have responded with a transfer offer believed to be in the region of £12m – Lingard is said to be open to the move.

And he could be joined in the north-east by Dele Alli, who is also a target of Howe's.

Injury to Callum Wilson also means Newcastle have set their sights on a new striker with Benfica's Darwin Nunez of interest.

And cash-rich Newcastle could be prepared to spend £50m to land the goalscorer.
