Inter ‘ready to sell Mauro Icardi to PSG for discount £53m’ with striker set for ‘four-year contract worth £170k a week’ – The Sun

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are reportedly closing in on the permanent signing of Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan.

The Argentinian international has been a huge hit at Parc des Parisiens since arriving on a season-long loan, with the player chipping in with 20 goals in 31 games in all competitions.

It had been claimed that Chelsea were in the running to secure his services with Frank Lampard looking to bolster his attack for next season.

But according to ESPN, it is Les Parisiens that are in pole position to land him, with wife and agent Wanda Nara in negotiations with PSG and Inter.

They state that PSG are edging closer to finalising a deal for Icardi with Nara putting pressure on the Italian outfit to lower their demands.

The Ligue 1 club have the option of permanently signing the ex-Sampdoria striker for £61million, but they are unwilling to pay that price due to the coronavirus crisis.

After lengthy discussions, the two two teams are now happy with a £53m fee, with talks to continue over the coming days.

ESPN have stated that Icardi has a four-year deal on the table in Paris where he will earn £170,000-a-week.

Icardi will replace Edinson Cavani as the leading forward under Thomas Tuchel with the Uruguayan international to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

It has even been suggested that Cavani could end up at Inter, with Atletico Madrid also keen on the player.

Newcastle have also reportedly identified the former Napoli marksman as a possible target should their Saudi takeover be completed.
