John Cena set for WrestleMania return but WON'T face Logan Paul as opponents are revealed | The Sun

JOHN CENA is set to return at WrestleMania 39, but it won't be for a blockbuster match against Logan Paul, reports suggest.

Instead, Cena will take on US Champion Austin Theory at WrestleMania.

The American grappler has stepped away as a full-time professional wrestler ever since 2017 as he has crossed over to Hollywood where he has launched a successful acting career.

However, the 16-time world champion still makes sporadic appearances for Vince McMahon's promotion, especially in the major Pay-Per-View shows or landmark TV episodes.

And it seems like the 45-year-old will be returning to action at WrestleMania in April at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood California.

According to the publisher and editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer, The Champ is "locked in" to take on Theory at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Cena was originally linked with a major clash against YouTuber-turned-wrestler Paul.

But plans appear to have been scrapped as the social media star looks set to take on Seth Rollins at Mania.

The amateur boxer made a surprise return at the Royal Rumble last month and eliminated Rollins from the 30-men over-the-top-rope battle royal.

The 27-year-old went on to heavily taunt The Visionary immediately after the elimination and continued to troll him on social media.

Therefore, Cena could be set for a major title match against Theory.

However, the ex-NXT star may drop his belt at Elimination Chamber on February 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Theory will defend his title in an Elimination Chamber Match against Rollins, Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed and two more stars.
