Juventus 'reject Chelsea's swap offer for De Ligt of Werner or Pulisic plus £34m as Italians demand £86m transfer fee' | The Sun

CHELSEA have reportedly had a £34million offer plus either Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic rejected by Juventus for Matthijs De Ligt.

SunSport recently stated how the Blues were preparing a player-plus-cash bid to bring the Dutch centre-back to Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is desperate to prise the 22-year-old away from Turin in his quest to bolster his defence.

The West London outfit are in the market for central defenders having seen Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen depart as free agents.

And they have turned their interest into a formal approach for De Ligt, but according to Tuttosport, it was swiftly knocked back by the Old Lady.

It has been said that a £34m proposal was sent to the Serie A giants, with Werner or Pulisic to be included in the deal.

But manager Massimiliano Allegri isn't keen on either forward, despite being in the market for attackers.

They also believe the fee is far below their asking price, which has been set at £86million.

The Italian news outlet adds that it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will return with an improved offer.

However they have stated that Chelsea do have the funds to sign De Ligt following Todd Boehly's £4.25bn takeover.

De Ligt still has two years left to run on his deal at the Allianz Stadium, but he has allegedly told the club he intends to leave after putting in a transfer request.

And he fuelled speculation of a possible exit earlier this month after admitting he may reject a new contract offer from Juve.

Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS, he remarked: "There are talks ongoing between me and Juventus.

"Once the right moment arrives, I will decide to extend or to look further."

As well as De Ligt, Chelsea are also still in the race to sign Sevilla ace Jules Kounde, but know they face competition from Barcelona.
