Life-long Man City fan tragically dies on way to Arsenal clash as champions pay tribute to family – The Sun

A LIFE-LONG Manchester City fan tragically died on way to Arsenal as the Premier League champions paid tribute to the family.

The club released a statement online confirming the tragic news.

It read: "Manchester City wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of a long-time City supporter who passed away today on his way to attending the game at Arsenal.

"The thoughts of all at the Club are with the family and loved ones at this very sad time."

Pep Guardiola's men bounced back from derby defeat to United last week by smashing the Gunners 3-0.

Kevin de Bruyne opened the lead after just two minutes at the Emirates.

Gabriel Jesus put a ball across the box allowing De Bruyne to smash his effort into the roof of the net.

It was a sign of things to come as England forward Raheem Sterling doubled the visitor’s lead on 15 minutes.

A quick counter saw De Bruyne sprint down the wing, with three Arsenal players just watching as the Belgian midfielder played a cross into Sterling.

The winger ghosted into the back post and tapped into an empty net exposing the Gunners poor defending.

It did not stop there, though, as De Bruyne bullied his way into a shooting position on the edge of the box and bent one past Bernd Leno to put the champions 3-0 up before half-time.

The champions cruised in the second 45 and saw out the thumping as they moved four points behind second placed Leicester.
