  • GOOOAAAALLL!!!!!

IT IS FIVE FOR MANCHESTER CITY – FODEN AGAIN!

  • MAN CITY 4-0 BURNLEY

    62. Joao Cancelo goes into the book as his underhit pass for Otamendi is intercepted by Matej Vydra.

The Portuguese full-back pulls back the Czech striker and that is a blatant yellow card.

McNeil's speculative effort from the resulting free-kick is wayward, to say the least…

  • MAN CITY 4-0 BURNLEY

    60. Burnley have made a change and it is Eric Pieters on for Rodriguez in an attempt to ensure it is damage limitation.

City, meanwhile, have also turned to their bench with Riyad Mahrez and Fernandinho making way for Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte.

As you do, Pep, as you do…

  • MAN CITY 4-0 BURNLEY

    57. An update on the shocking scenes we saw earlier with the 'White Lives Matter Burnley' banner.

Burnley have released a statement this evening on the matter.

It reads: “Burnley Football Club strongly condemns the actions of those responsible for the aircraft and offensive banner that flew over The Etihad Stadium on Monday evening.

“We wish to make it clear that those responsible are not welcome at Turf Moor.

“This, in no way, represents what Burnley Football Club stands for and we will work fully with the authorities to identify those responsible and issue lifetime bans.

“The club has a proud record of working with all genders, religions and faiths through its award-winning Community scheme, and stands against racism of any kind.

“We are fully behind the Premier League’s Black Lives Matter initiative and, in line with all other Premier League games undertaken since Project Restart, our players and football staff willingly took the knee at kick-off at Manchester City.

“We apologise unreservedly to the Premier League, to Manchester City and to all those helping to promote Black Lives Matter.”

  • MAN CITY 4-0 BURNLEY

    55. This has been another vintage City performance – they have been so, so good thus far.

Oh, and Ederson has casually pinged another dreamy ball out to the right wing. Standard.

  • 52. Foden wins a corner when his shot deflects wide.

Again it is well worked by City but there is far too much space for Foden on the edge of the area.

He plays a delightful disguised reverse pass, Bernardo plays it across the six-yard box first time and David Silva is sliding in to poke it home.

    MAN CITY 4-0 BURNLEY

  • GOOOOAAALLLL!!!

    AND IT'S FOUR!!!!

    DAVID SILVA THIS TIME!

  • MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

    49. Aymeric Laporte in deep discussion with Pep Guardiola.

It looks as though the Frenchman is going to get another run out.

Remember, he has missed large parts of the season with injury and City take on Chelsea on Thursday night.

  • MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

    48. Jesus turns really well in the centre circle and helps City counter.

Zinchenko gets upfield, cuts inside and lets fly on his right foot but it is good defending… from David Silva!

The strike hits the Spaniard and rolls out for a goal kick.

    Whoops.

  • MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

    47. An early stoppage as Rodri goes does from a flailing Jay Rodriguez arm.

He barely touched him, I must say.

Free-kick to City, nothing more, although VAR did look at it… very briefly.

  • PEEEEP!

    BACK UNDERWAY!

    46. And we are off again at the Etihad.

Surely a case of damage limitation now for the Clarets.

  • HT: MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

Couple of stats and graphs from Opta for you comparing City and Burnley's opening 45 minutes.

As you can see, Burnley have offered very little – well nothing – going forward.

  • HT: MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

Right, think I've just about kept up with all that…

Interestingly, either Micah Richards or Souness think that deserves to be a penalty, with Souness pointing out not a single City player appealed for it.

  • HT: MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

Graeme Souness not happy with Josh Brownhill's effort to close down Phil Foden for the opening goal…

Souness said: “Classic case of Burnley going to sleep.

“I'm slightly mystified. Brownhill sprints there but doesn't do anything when he gets there. How about sticking your right foot out and blocking it?

“You've done the hard bit, used energy to get there, but done nothing about it.

    “Lovely strike.”

  • PEEEEP!

    HALF-TIME!

The onslaught is over, at least for the next 15 minutes, for Sean Dyche's men.

They have been utterly outclassed by City so far, with the reigning champions not giving up their title without a fight.

Some sumptuous football from the likes of the Silvas and Mahrez.

  • MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

    45+4. But there is a blemish…

Aguero was clearly hurt by that challenge from Mee and hobbles off… and he won't be carrying on.

He does not look happy as he comes off with Gabriel Jesus on in his place.

But, please, spare a thought for me – yes, I triple-captained Aguero in my Fantasy Football this week. Cry.

  • Riyad Mahrez – who famously ballooned one over the bar against Liverpool last season – is feeling confident after his goal moments ago.

He steps up, though, opens up his body and places it right into the bottom corner.

Not even half-time and City are cruising…

    MAN CITY 3-0 BURNLEY

  • GOALLLLL!!!!

    MAHREZ SLOTS IT HOME!!!!

  • PENALTY TO CITY!!!!

VAR Kevin Friend has looked at it and after a lengthy delay, it is a penalty!!!

  • MAN CITY 2-0 BURNLEY

    45+1. Oooh what's this then?

Sergio Aguero goes down inside the box under the challenge of Ben Mee.

The defender seems to win the ball but does catch the striker, who stays down.

    VAR will check it…

  • MAN CITY 2-0 BURNLEY

    Riyad right now be like…

  • Oh my word, the absolute sauce.

Fernandinho with a beauty of a ping to send Mahrez away down the right channel.

He twists and turns and bamboozles Taylor all ends up, cutting in and back out on to his weaker right foot before rifling a low drive past Pope.

The England goalkeeper tries to get a foot out to it David De Gea style but the shot is just too quick.

44 minutes gone and this is looking ominous….

    MAN CITY 2-0 BURNLEY

  • GOAALLLLLL FOR MAHREZ!!

THAT IS VINTAGE RIYAD FROM THE ALGERIAN!!!

  • MAN CITY 1-0 BURNLEY

    40. Things have settled down a little bit as we move into the final five minutes of this first half.

So a perfect chance to show you how Foden opened the scoring…

  • MAN CITY 1-0 BURNLEY

    35. Ooooh fancy footwork from Bernardo Silva.

He turns Taylor inside out then plays it back for Aguero but his shot is blocked.

I would hate to curse it, Burnley fans, but the Argentine has been pretty quiet so far…
