Man Utd signed WRONG Ajax winger says club legend as current star is ‘much better and smarter’ than ‘confused’ Antony | The Sun

DUTCH football legend Marco van Basten has told Manchester United they signed the wrong Ajax player in the summer.

United splashed a huge £85million on Brazilian winger Antony from the Dutch giants in the close season.

But Van Basten reckons the Red Devils missed a better player was lurking in the Ajax ranks.

That man is Mohammed Kudus, who the Dutch legend says is "much better" that Antony.

Things haven't particularly worked out for the Brazil international so far, with just three goals and no assists in the Premier League not reflecting the huge fee United paid.

And Van Basten adds that he looks "confused" at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, he said: "I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than Antony.

"Antony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do!"

"Kudus has much better technique and he knows what he is doing. Antony may be faster, but Kudus is smarter and more technical."

Van Basten continued: "He is much more of a footballer, you can place him anywhere on the pitch, an all-rounder for the team."

"In fact, I like him much better than Antony. He's more fun to watch play."

While Anthony has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League Kudus has hit 15 goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances for Ajax this season.

The forward starred for Ajax in their miserable Champions League campaign with six goal contributions in as many games as the Dutch giants went out in the group stage.
