Neymar jokes he was 'drunk' when he scored PSG wondergoal as he hits out at rumours of training in 'lamentable state'

NEYMAR has joked that he was "drunk" when he scored his latest Paris Saint-Germain goal.

The Brazilian has been roundly criticised in recent weeks, since his side crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

He was booed by his own fans during last month's 3-0 victory over Bordeaux, while French RMC journalist Daniel Riolo reportedly made shocking claims about the 30-year-old's training habits.

Appearing on L'After Foot podcast, Riolo is quoted as saying that Neymar: "Comes to training in a lamentable state, on the verge of being drunk."

After his brilliant two-goal performance against Lorient at the weekend, the forward posted his highlights on Instagram – while taking a swipe at the rumours.

He jokingly wrote: "I was 'drunk', that's why it worked… as they say around there."

He got the scoring underway on 12 minutes, converting after being teed up by Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman then grabbed the second himself, clinically converting when sent one on one in the 28th minute.

Terem Moffi profited on a farcical defensive mix-up to temporarily haul Lorient back into the game.

But Mbappe restored the two-goal cushion with a drilled effort from the edge of the box in the 67th minute.

He then teed up Lionel Messi for just his third Ligue 1 goal of the season – marking the first time that the Argentine, Mbappe and Neymar have all scored in the same game this season.

Mbappe then added his third assist to go with his two goals late on, when he set up Neymar's incredible second of the night and PSG's fifth.

PSG lead Marseille by 12 points with eight games remaining in Ligue 1.

Neymar now has seven goals and five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.
