NFL Week 11: Chiefs vs. Raiders & Rams vs. Buccaneers Drew Excellent Viewership Numbers

Two of the NFL’s three Week 11 primetime games were nothing short of dramatic and entertaining.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs met Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders on NBC’s Sunday Night Football program. The high-scoring affair saw the Chiefs pull out a late 35-31 victory, avenging a Week 5 home loss to the Raiders.

According to Sports Media Watch, the Chiefs-Raiders game averaged a 10.8 rating and 19.57 million viewers. The report outlined that the game averaged 20.2 million viewers “across all platforms.”

This was the second most watched primetime game of the season, per Sports Media Watch, behind the Chiefs and Houston Texans Week 1 Thursday Kickoff Game (20.54 million viewers).

Kansas City moved to 9-1 on the season, and they have all but clinched their fifth straight AFC West division title. With the loss, the Raiders fell to 6-4.

The Monday Night Football game on ESPN featured the Los Angeles Rams against Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jared Goff and company held off the Bucs for a thrilling 27-24 victory, thanks to Jordan Fuller’s game-sealing interception.

Per an ESPN press release, the Bucs-Rams game reached more than 12.6 million viewers, peaking in the fourth quarter (10:45 to 11:00 p.m. EST, with over 13.74 million viewers. This game was up considerably from the Week 11 Monday night game between the Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers that drew 12.568 million viewers.

The ESPN press release noted that Tampa Bay finished with a 20.3 local rating, which led all markets. Seattle was second with a 12.9 rating, followed by Los Angeles, Providence (12.2) and San Diego (11.9).

With the victory, the Rams retained possession of first place in the NFC West with a 7-3 record, while the Buccaneers fell to 7-4. Tampa Bay will likely have to settle for a wild card spot at this point, while the Rams are in the running to land the top seed in the NFC. The New Orleans Saints lead the conference with a record of 8-2.
