Picture of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting new tattoo emerge a day before getting axed from Arsenal squad

A PHOTO of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting a new tattoo has emerged – taken just a day before he was dropped by Arsenal.

The Gabon striker, 32, was left out of the Gunners squad in the Premier League game against Southampton because of a "disciplinary breach", according to manager Mikel Arteta.

Twenty-four hours before, his regular tattoo artist Alejandro Nicolas Bernal shared an Instagram snap with Aubameyang tattooing his arm.

There is no indication that the marksman was dropped because of the tattoo.

Alexandre Lacazette was picked to lead the line against the Saints, while Aubameyang didn't even make the squad.

Before the game, the Spanish boss confirmed why the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker was missing.

When asked why Aubameyang was absent, Arteta replied: "Unfortunately due to a disciplinary breach.

"I think we have been very consistent that we have certain non-negotiables in the team that we have set ourselves as a club, and he's not involved today."

Asked whether it was a long term ban, he said: "It starts today."

Aubameyang has been subject to criticism from Arsenal fans after suffering a crisis in confidence in front of goal.

In the Premier league, he has scored just four goals in 14 games.

He was hauled off at Old Trafford for Eddie Nketiah, with the Gunners trailing 3-2.

Last time out, he found himself on the bench at Goodison Park as Arsenal lost to the Toffees 2-1.

Back in February, Aubameyang allegedly broke lockdown guidelines by getting another tattoo.

It was unclear when the tattoo was given, nor if tattoo artist Bernal was part of his Covid bubble.

Even so, an Arsenal spokesperson said: "We will speak to the player to remind him of his responsibilities and establish what has taken place."
