Robert Lewandowski agent 'pressuring Bayern Munich' to start talks with Barcelona after striker confirms he wants exit

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI is turning up the heat on Bayern Munich after confirming he will leave the club.

The striker has a year left on his contract, but his agent is reportedly pressuring the German champions to begin negotiations with Barcelona.

It has been heavily rumoured that Lewandowski, 33, has been keen on a move to Xavi's side, as they look to challenge Real Madrid again at the peak of LaLiga.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed the Polish international's agent, Pini Zahavi, is pushing for the club to open talks regarding his departure imminently.

Romano tweeted: "Lewandowski’s agent Zahavi will push with Bayern to open talks to sell him 'as soon as possible'. His main priority is still the same: Barcelona."

The Ballon D'or runner-up has enjoyed another stellar season this year, notching up 50 goals in just 46 games in all competitions.

Villarreal stunned the Germans at the quarter-final stage, who suffered heartache in a similar way to Lewandowski's rumoured future club.

Despite a revival under Xavi, Barcelona dropped into the Europa League for the first time in their history, before being knocked out by finalists Eintracht Frankfurt in the last eight.

The club legend led his side to a 15 game unbeaten streak in the league, including a 4-0 thrashing off arch-rivals Madrid.

The acquisition of Lewandowski would further boost their firepower, after the shrewd business of acquiring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.
