Simone Biles breaks own record, becomes first woman to win 5 all-around titles at worlds

Simone Biles made history yet again, breaking her own record to become the first woman to win five all-around titles at gymnastics worlds in Stuttgart, Germany on Thursday.

To put that in perspective, Biles is the only woman with more than three all-around crowns and she now holds 22 career world medals. She’s just one medal shy of the overall record set by Belarus’ Vitaly Scherbo, who had two more events to reach that mark.

Biles’ latest feat came as she scored 58.999 points after delivering four clean routines to finish 2.1 points ahead of China’s Tang Xijing.

The win marked her largest margin of victory at a world all-around event, and it also gave the United States its seventh win in a row in the women’s all-around to match the Soviet Union’s record streak set in the 1970s and ’80s.
