Tyson Fury’s WWE SmackDown appearance was for son Prince who is a massive wrestling fan – The Sun

TYSON FURY was inspired by his eldest son, Prince John James, to make a shock WWE cameo.

The Gypsy King made an appearance on a SmackDown show in Los Angeles' Staple Center as the brand debuted on the Fox TV network.

Sitting ringside the undefeated heavyweight boxer had to be restrained by WWE security as he was taunted by Braun Strowman, before a melee broke out.

Fury will return to WWE television on Monday Night RAW and will have an “open mic” to voice his opinion on Strowman.

The stunt received high praise as the 31-year-old continues his splash in the US market after signing a deal this year with promotion Top Rank.

Fury has fought twice in 2018 – beating Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin, both in Las Vegas, and looks set to rematch WBC champion Deontay Wilder in February.

Featuring on SmackDown’s Fox debut was a masterstroke as his profile is sure to boost even more.

But trainer Ben Davison revealed on Twitter Fury made the wrestling appearance for his son, an avid WWE fan.

Davison said: “AND…. make a dream come true for his son who’s a big wrestling fan.”

Fury and Prince, along with Paris and the rest of the family, were pictured with WWE legends The Rock, Triple H, Hulk Hogan and even the boss Vince McMahon after SmackDown.

The Gypsy King follows in the footsteps of Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, who had successful WWE cameos.

Though not everyone was praising boxing’s latest wrestling star, with one moaning the move had been done “numerous times before and it’s nothing new.''

But Davison hit back and revealed Fury made his boy’s “dream come true”.

The trainer said: “Numerous times by who? Mike tyson, Floyd mayweather?

“Not bad names to be mentioned beside. Don’t say you support when it suits and wanna be negative when it suits too.

“Either you appreciate and support the man or you don’t. He’s had an opportunity to make his son dream come true!”
