WWE star Matt Riddle signs new three-year contract as Hulk Hogan backs him to become Vince McMahon's 'next mega star'

THE man Hulk Hogan believes is the ‘next’ big wrestling star has reportedly signed a three-year contract with WWE.

Former UFC fighter Matt Riddle, 34, has allegedly secured a decent pay rise after his performances on Monday Night Raw.

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer claims he has penned a package worth £292,000-a-year with a £36,500 bonus for each Saudi Arabia show he appears on.

That comes just days after WWE icon Hogan backed him to be the ‘next megastar’ for Vince McMahon’s company.

Hogan said: “Right now there’s another guy that’s stumbling into that situation.

“You know, acting like he doesn’t know what’s going on but he’s smart as hell.

“That’s the ‘Bro’, Riddle, who kicks his flip-flops off when he comes into the ring.

“I’ve been watching him and he’s really got good instincts. He’s really got a good aptitude for understanding what needs to be done, you know.

“It’s all about instincts and timing. His timing is off a little bit but it’s starting to come each and every week so, I mean, he would be the next one I’d put my money on.”

Riddle went 7-3 with two no contests during his five-year spell in UFC from 2008 before he was released after failing multiple tests for marijuana.

He switched to professional wrestling in 2014 and signed for WWE in 2018, joining their NXT brand.

Riddle has now been drafted to Raw after initially being called up to SmackDown earlier this year but he is yet to win a singles title.

He has been teaming up with the legendary Jeff Hardy in recent weeks, which could suggest an upcoming shot at tag team gold in the near future.
