A Place in the Sun: Jonnie Irwin warns guests over heated argument ‘They’ll be trouble’

A Place in the Sun: Guest criticises bathroom size

Jonnie, 47, was joined by mother and daughter duo Lisa and Jordan to find their family a “perfect holiday home” in the Spanish region of Andalucia. The A Place in the Sun presenter discovered the family had a budget of £75,000 to spend on a two-bedroom townhouse. Some of the specifications the pair said they wanted included an outdoor space, whether that be a terrace or a balcony, something traditional and within walking distance of a plaza with locals bars and cafés. However, when it came to the last property he was going to show them, the Channel 4 star had to clear the air between the two women.

Showing the pair property number five, Jonnie took the guests to a three-bedroom townhouse in Almáchar, on the market for £76,600.

Some of the features of the establishment included a gated front terrace, had been recently renovated and was close to local amenities.

The pair said the host had “nailed” their specifications and when it came to who would get which bedroom, it seemed the women disagreed.

“I think we should get the arguments out the way,” the host remarked before Jordan said she wanted the more spacious room.

Connie then ushered the guests to look at the other bedrooms but not without giving them a warning as he said: “If I hear squabbling there will be trouble.”

On inspection, Jordan said she would have liked the second bedroom they looked at as it was bright and spacious, meaning mother Lisa could claim the first.

This was the best property they had come across, after detailing some problems with the four viewings before.

Property number one saw the host show the mother and daughter was a three-bedroom townhouse in Velez Malaga which was on the market for £69,500.

As well as being located near to amenities, the home also offered features such as a modern fitted bathroom, large kitchen/diner area and a roof terrace with good town, mountain and countryside views.

Unfortunately, the pair thought it would need some work doing to it if they wanted to make it their own but told Jonnie it was a “good start”.

Moving onto property number two and the guests’ reaction was completely different from the first as it was more to their liking.

Although the location was a bit more rural, the price value of £60,800 was enticing as well as several other features.

The mother and daughter duo were pleased to see the home would need very little work doing to it and liked the space inside.

Featuring two-bedrooms, the establishment in Salto del Negro also included two sun terraces, beamed ceilings and a roof terrace with mountain views.

Both Lisa and Jordan did agree by the end of the viewing this had knocked the first property out of the running altogether, but the former was concerned about the rural location.

With some concerns from the guests, Jonnie moved on property number three which was a two-bedroom townhouse in the centre of the town of Algarrobo.

The interior included a living room with American kitchen and a sunny terrace on the upper floor, all on the market for £73,600.

Lisa and Jordan were most impressed with the outside space as it was bright and overlooked mountainous views once again.

Some of the problems the pair discovered were that the establishment seemed to be small with regards to space and the low ceilings were not liveable.

Not stopping there, Jonnie took the pair to property number four, which was located on the side of a hill and valued at £74,000.

The three-bedroom house in Iznate once again offered views of the surrounding areas from a roof terrace.

As well as being fully furnished, the property also included a stylish modern kitchen, a modern living room with a fireplace and two bathrooms.

Connie had “high hopes” this could be a real contender for the pair and it seems he wasn’t disappointed with his find.

Speaking with the host, the mother and daughter duo said they “loved” the views but the downstairs of the property wasn’t up to scratch.

Having seen all five properties, the pair then reconfigured with Jonnie the next day and told him they weren’t going to be buying any of them and would continue their search independently.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
