Alison Hammond forced to wear glasses after autocue blunder on This Morning

Alison Hammond was forced to wear glasses on This Morning after suffering an awkward blunder with the autocue.

The TV presenter was filling in for regular presenter Holly Willoughby as she continues to recover from Covid, and was hosting alongside Phillip Schofield.

But as the show started on Thursday morning, Alison, 47, felt the need to explain to viewers why she looked different to normal.

Wearing a pair of black-framed glasses, the Birmingham-born star joked to the audience that they weren't "seeing double".

"I've actually got my glasses on," she explained. "Because I couldn't see the autocue today.

"I don't know what's the matter with me, so I thought I'd let you know."

Phillip, 59, turned to face his co-host and suggested they make some changes to the studio set-up.

While the camera normally stays in the same place at ITV Studios, Alison was struggling to read the autocue for a change.

"Do you want it to come a bit closer?" Phil asked, as Alison giggled it was fine and she'd cope.

Finding the whole thing funny, Phil persisted as he ordered the cameraman to "creep right in there".

"No because now they're going to see all our wrinkles!" Alison panicked with a laugh, before finally admitting the close-up filming was actually "much better".

"Come right in, come on, in you go," Phil teased, as Alison once more urged the crew not to film too close.

As the joking subsided, Alison went on with the segment as she told viewers "welcome back" to the show.

"You've taken them off though," Phil pointed out, as the former Big Brother star agreed it was so much better.

Unfortunately, the gaffes continued as the co-hosts went on to discuss an important medical issue.

Attempting to utter the words "qualified health care," Alison stumbled and was forced ton repeat herself.

"That didn't help then did it?" a deadpan Phil quipped and his co-host could barely contain her guffaws as the duo tried to carry on.

Earlier this week, Phil suffered from another hilarious blunder when Josie Gibson accidentally took up too much of the sofa and forced him to nearly sit on her lap.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
