Andrew Neil says Harry and William rift should not cloud Prince Philip’s funeral

Presenter Andrew Neil has slammed Prince Harry and Prince William's royal feud.

The squabbling brothers have reportedly not been on good terms for a long time.

And Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview with wife Meghan Markle did little to help matters.

Saturday is Prince Philip's funeral and a lot of the TV talk so far this week has been whether the feuding royal brothers will make up in respect of their late grandfather, The Duke of Edinburgh.

“Frankly, I think it’s a side show, what Harry and William do is up to them, if they want to smoke the peace that’s fine, if they don’t that’s fine, I don’t really care one way or the other,” said Andrew.

“What I don’t want to happen is for it to overshadow the Duke’s funeral and to overshadow the Queen.

“All thoughts this week should not be with Harry and William, all thoughts should be with the Queen – that’s the beginning and the end of it, she is the one that matters, not these two.”

Prince Harry flew into the UK earlier this week and is quarantining at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Meanwhile, older brother William is currently in Norfolk with his family.

“They’ve [reportedly] spoken on the phone, they can’t meet face to face as Harry is in quarantine having come in from Los Angeles,” said Andrew.

“[But] I don’t know whether it will lead to anything or not.”

Andrew was speaking on This Morning discussing the biggest news stories of the day alongside Made in Chelsea and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Georgia "Toff" Toffolo.

And This Morning presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond were quick to canvass opinion on the squabbling siblings.

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, is hoping he passed a Covid test and will be able to leave isolation after five days in order to be at his grandfather’s funeral.

Government guidance states that Prince Harry can leave his place of self-isolation in “limited circumstances” and on “compassionate grounds”.

There has also been much speculation what the brothers will wear to Prince Philip’s funeral.

Prince Harry, who will not be joined by pregnant Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, lost all of his military titles after quitting royal duties.

But as a captain of the Household Cavalry the prince is entitled to wear a morning suit with medals.

It has been reported that Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge will wear the same suit as Harry to prevent the royal rift from escalating on a sombre day when Prince Philip, who died aged 99 last Friday, is finally laid to rest.
