BBC making Doctor Foster spin-off that could reunite Suranne Jones & Jodie Comer – The Sun

THE BBC is making a Doctor Foster spin-off which could reunite stars Suranne Jones and Jodie Comer.

New drama, Life, from the same writer Mike Bartlett has already been announced — but we can reveal it is effectively a Doctor Foster sequel.

It follows Anna Baker, played by Victoria Hamilton, who was Gemma Foster’s neighbour in the hit thriller.

Actor Bertie Cavel, who was Gemma’s cheating hubby Simon, has said it will be tricky filming a third series as Suranne, 41, and Jodie, 26, were very busy. But a TV insider said: “Life could get round the problem by ensuring they don’t have to commit to a whole series, which is a thrilling prospect for fans suffering withdrawal symptoms since it ended.”

Writer Mike confirmed Life will “share a universe with Doctor Foster”.

That means all the lead characters may feature, including Killing Eve star Jodie, who had an affair with Simon.

Mike added: “In the last series of Doctor Foster Anna split up with Neil and moved away. But I loved her as a character and suspected that was really the start of her story, rather than the end.

“In Life we find her living alone, under a different name, in a new city.

“It’s one of four story strands that make up the series, the other three being new, completely different interconnected stories that explore the epic and extraordinary in our everyday lives.”
