Christie Brinkley forced to exit ‘DWTS’ hours before premiere: Who’s taking her place?

It appears we won’t see Christie Brinkley do the foxtrot after all.

Just hours before her scheduled debut on the season premiere of “Dancing With the Stars,” ABC confirmed Monday morning that Brinkley, 65, suffered serious injuries “which required surgery to her wrist and arm. She is unable to continue her planned participation on the show.”

Brinkley seemingly got hurt during a late-night rehearsal the night before the premiere. On Sunday night, Brinkley shared behind-the-scenes photos of her in a shimmery leotard, writing, “I’m so excited for tomorrow’s show!” It’s unclear if she’s already undergone surgery.

The unexpected last-minute departure, however, will not leave a gap in the lineup: “Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season.”

It’s not yet known whether Brinkley-Cook, 21, was present during any of her mom’s rehearsals, or if she’s be forced to start from square one.
