Coronation Street airs devastating death in emotional scenes
Coronation Street has aired another emotional death in recent scenes as paramedics arrived to tend to Shelly Rossington.
Shelly was a new friend of Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) who he met at a support group after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
The pair hit it off right away, and with Shelly being further along in her journey, she was able to offer Paul an insight into what his future may be like.
In tonight’s (September 15) episode, Paul had hoped to pay her a visit and gift her a new gospel record that she had been wanting, as a way of keeping her sweet after announcing that he was putting a stop to the scam she had set up with Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove).
However, on his way to see her, he ended up falling and found himself unable to get up.
He called Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to come and get him, aware that Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) would likely use the fall as an excuse to make him use his new wheelchair.
Unfortunately for Paul, Todd was very much on the same page as the vicar, and encouraged Paul to consider it.
By the time he got home, emotional Paul revealed that, as much as he didn’t want to, it was time for him to start using his wheelchair.
After a trip to the pub to test out his ‘new wheels’, as Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) called them, Paul decided he should ring Shelly and let her know what was going on.
However, her phone went to voicemail after a number of rings.
We soon found out why Shelly wasn’t picking up and the reason was heartbreaking.
Paramedics arrived at her flat and were greeted by her carer, who revealed that he couldn’t find a pulse and believed that Shelly had died in her sleep.
How will Paul cope with the news of his friend’s tragic passing?
