Coronation Street Leo stars sweet tribute to grandmother after emotional exit

Coronation Street star Joe Frost has shared a sweet tribute dedicated to his grandmother following his exit from the ITV show earlier this year.

Known for playing the role of Leo Thompkins in the long running soap, Joe's character met his fate in September when he was tragically murdered by evil Stephen Reid.

Taking to his Instagram, Joe thanked the show for letting him be a part of the amazing production while giving a shout-out to his nan.

Wearing a blue puffer jacket for his mirror selfie, the star captioned the photo by writing: "Oooft. What a ride…

"Six weeks that turned into a hell of a year. A dream come true for a lad from the North West.

"Can’t thank the whole team at @coronationstreet enough for letting me add my footprints to the cobbles. (This one was for you Gran…)."

He added: "Now, how’s that sinkhole looking?"

Heading over to the comment section, fans wished Joe all the best while expressing that it won't be the same without him on the show.

One follower penned: "So sad what happened I really liked you in corrie."

Another wrote: "It won't be the same without you good luck for the future."

A third said: "You were amazing! What an actor, so sad to see you go."

Meanwhile a fourth disappointed viewer added: "I will sure miss you. Been missing you since you left. I thought surely the police would have found your body by now."

Leo was set to leave the famous Cobbles for Canada with his girlfriend Jenny Connor earlier this year but things didn't go to plan.

The civil engineer started to become suspicious of Stephen and began questioning his motives while on the street.

Following his movements, Leo was the only Corrie resident to notice that Stephen was up to no good and wanted to get his hands on his mother Audrey's money.

Due to the fact that Stephen became aware that Leo was on to him, he felt he had no other choice but to get rid of him.

While the two men squabbled on a construction balcony outside the factory, Stephen ended up throwing Leo into rubbish bins. Stephen then hid his body and it hasn't been found since.

But with the mystery still not solved and Stephen hasn't yet received his comeuppance, fans are desperately waiting to see what happens next.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
