Coronation Street newcomer looks completely different in Gavin and Stacey role

Coronation Street actor Steve Meo looks completely different compared to his stint on Gavin and Stacey.

The TV star made his debut in the ITV soap earlier this week as businessman Rufus Donahue.

He has been dealing with Underworld staff members Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien), Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) and Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell).

Before landing the role in Corrie, Steve played Owain Hughes in the BBC comedy series.

Fans will remember that Owain is one of Gavin Shipman's (Matthew Horne) colleagues when he gets a new job in Wales.

His name was seemingly a never-explained joke.

In the third series, Gavin meets a co-worker named "Owain Hughes" and when Owain stated his name, he then said "And before you ask, no I don't".

The actor looks completely different now well and it has been more than a decade since he played Owain.

He has been busy since filming his well-remembered cameo in Gavin and Stacey.

The 45-year-old actor from Swansea is also known for his roles in High Hopes, Belonging and two years ago he was in ITV real-life drama, The Pembrokeshire Murders as DI Lynne Harries.

Steve has also been in Code 404, Doctors, Casualty as well as other programmes.

He took to Twitter about his Weatherfield debut and it looks like he'll be sticking around for a few episodes as underwear businessman who's entered into an 'omnishambles' of a situation at Coronation Street knicker factory, Underworld.

In upcoming scenes, Underworld boss Carla Connor (Alison King) tells Sarah that she can finish working on her designs in return for an apology.

Carla tells Stephen to resurrect the deal with Rufus and in return he’ll receive 15% commission and a permanent contract.

At Rufus’s hotel, Rufus makes it clear he’s not interested but Stephen begs him to reconsider.

Rufus hands Stephen a vial of LSD and heads to the bathroom where he snorts a line of coke. Suddenly, Rufus collapses clutching his chest.

As the paramedics attend to Rufus, Carla calls Stephen wondering if he’s sealed the deal. Stephen assures her it’s in the bag.

As he's being wheeled away, Stephen practises Rufus’s signature on the unsigned contract when he hears a knock at the door.

Carla later calls a meeting with Sarah and Stephen and explains that Sarah is now Head of Design whilst Stephen will be Office Manager.

Determined to have his revenge on Carla, Stephen slips into the Underworld office with the vial of LSD from Rufus’s briefcase and slips the LSD into Carla’s coffee.

Carla heads onto the factory floor, clearly discombobulated and woozy.

Will evil Stephen go as far as killing Carla to this hands on the factory?
