Corrie star Jack P Shepherd had hair transplant to protect his mental health

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has unveiled updated pictures following his hair transplant procedure, which he undertook at the beginning of the year. The actor, best known for playing David Platt in the soap, has explained that he had been getting ‘depressed’ about going bald – so having the transplant was, in part, for his mental health.

He also added that he hoped that it would keep doors open in his career as he shared that he would have otherwise been ruled out of auditioning for younger roles. The actor had watched himself back on Corrie and become low over seeing that his hair was ‘literally falling out.’

After that, he went to the Crown Clinic and the process began in January this year. He has now shared an update and has enthused that he is ‘thrilled’ with the results.

He said: ‘As an actor, my hair and my looks are crucial to my success and if I go bald then I am not going to be considered for younger roles as I get older.

‘It is lovely to hear the positive comments about the change in my appearance from everyone at Corrie. I have never felt more body confident and I know in taking this step I have helped my future as an actor.’

David is set to be central to an upcoming plotline as reports have suggested that he could be blamed for a stabbing when his rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) is violently attacked during a prison riot.

David is set to come face to face with Josh when he ends up in the same prison as him.
