Dancing on Ice runner-up Chris Fountain devastated as he's 'snubbed' in best bits show after rape rap scandal

DANCING On Ice runner-up Chris Fountain has revealed his devastation after being 'snubbed' in last night's best bits show.

ITV put together the compilation episode after postponing the competition for a week due to injuries and coronavirus.

Watching at home, 2008 runner-up Chris was disappointed not to see some of his memorable routines feature.

He wrote on Twitter: "Hang on a minute… I’m sure I was on this @dancingonice show? Was I? I’m sure I was?! Must’ve been a dream."

Setting the jokey post aside, the former Coronation Street and Hollyoaks star then gave a more detailed account of his feelings and what the show meant to him.

"Kind of expected it but can't say that I'm not disappointed as I gave a hell of a lot to that show," said Chris. "Coming 2nd with my partner Frankie in 2008 and then continuing to win two UK tours of the live show."

He continued: "I always tried to wow the audience with my routines, being the first celebrity to attempt an axel, lifts like the flambo, wraparound and helicopter, and my scratch spin, which even after 12 years has yet to be matched.

"…My routines don't have to be in the 'bet bits' show to remember what I achieved but it would have been nice to see them and reminisce!"

Chris was axed from Coronation Street in 2013 after The Sun exposed him as a masked rapper who had boasted of raping a woman in a sickening YouTube video under the guise of his alter-ego The Phantom.

He said the videos had been made a year before when he had been “experimenting” with music.

At the time, the actor apologised saying he was “deeply ashamed by the lyrics” and “regretted” his behaviour.

Jake Quickenden won the 2018 series and was another past contestant upset by their lack of airtime.

He tweeted: "Gutted watching dancing on Ice tonight, had so many amazing memories and unfortunately didn’t get to see any!! I guess they have loads of footage to fit in to 2 hours!!! Always have the amazing memories though! Good to watch tonight, been some incredible skaters."

Viewers loved watching back golden moments from the archives, but some longed for more of their favourite celebs such as Chris, Jake, Ian 'H' Watkins, Jorgie Porter and Max Evans.

One wrote: "They seemed to only focus on a few winners in detail, Hayley, Gaynor, Suzanne, Ray and James, Joe was pretty much ignored as was Matt, Jake, Beth and Kieran."

Another posted: "@AllThingsDOI why you not showing Jorgie Porter or Chris fountain or Jenny."
