"You could see my bone and blood was going everywhere.

"So you’ve got to be a little bit careful. We can do something that’s fearless and going to look really good, but there’s always a chance of something really bad happening that could take us out of the competition.

"That’s probably the thing I’m most scared of… not being able to participate.

"I want to try my best and not go out because of a bad injury."

Joey is famed for his jokey persona, but he is determined to prove he’s taking Dancing on Ice seriously.

The hunk, who shot to fame on The Only Way Is Essex, is in it to win it.

He said: "I am taking it pretty serious. I think people will think I’m going to come out and be like, 'What are you saying?' But I’m not.

"I’m taking it a lot more serious and I’m listening. I’m getting up early, I’m on time every single day and I am just being super professional. I want to do really well."

Joey is part of this year's star-studded line-up and appeared on This Morning on Friday (January 13) alongside co-star's Siva Kaneswaran and Nile Wilson to chat to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary ahead of their debut.

Recalling Joey's positive attitude towards starring on the show, Alison asked: "We had you sofa and you were all over this like, 'I'm going to win this,' how you finding it now? What's the reality?"

The reality star admitted he's "just happy to be here" before listing off the injuries he's suffered over the course of training.

"I've nearly lost a finger. I've nearly lost a kneecap, a shoulder," the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star told the presenters.

"But now I'm on the ice and I feel ready but there's room for improvement always," he added.

Dancing on Ice kicks off on Sunday, January 15 at 6.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
