David betrays Nick after Corrie double arrest

Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) will do anything to evade justice over the theft of Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money in Coronation Street and when she defies his expectations and reports the crime to the police, Nick insists to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) that he will make it worth his while if he takes the blame for the fraud.

Meanwhile, Nick has lost control at the factory as a disgusted Sarah (Tina O’Brien) refuses to work with him and runs things herself while Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) needs more time to process the situation as David insists how sorry he is.

Later both brothers are arrested but David seethes when the interviewing police officer tells him that Nick is placing the blame at his door. Despite Nick’s request ringing in his ears, David makes the decision to be honest about who really took the money – but this is very unlikely to go down well with Nick.

As David and Nick wage war against each other, Gail tries to intervene. With both of the siblings blaming each other for the mess, a desperate Gail begs Audrey not to press charges against her grandsons and it’s clear that her words hit home as she is soon asking Ken Barlow (William Roache) for advice.

Ken knows better than anyone what having a criminally dysfunctional family feels like and he tries to remind Audrey about the importance of family values but will she have a change of heart?

It’s not just his family and freedom that Nick stands to lose as Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) has had more than enough of being kept out of the loop and packs her bags, telling Nick it’s over unless he comes clean about the truth.

He eventually admits everything and agrees to move out – but will Leanne give him another of his many chances?

Even if she does, there’s still the matter of that upcoming court case – could Nick be heading for prison?

One to watch: Monday 3rd June at 8:30pm on ITV.
