EastEnders casts x-rated gift for Danny Dyer as he bows out as Mick Carter

Viewers have bid a final farewell to EastEnders star Danny Dyer, who has officially left the show in typically explosive Christmas Day scenes.

Danny arrived as Mick Carter on Christmas Day in 22013 and it's fair to say that the Queen Vic landlord and his family fast became fan favourites – and saw more than their fair share of drama over the years.

Most recently, Mick has been in a relationship with the recently returned Janine Butcher, who has – in typical Janine fashion – manipulated and schemed to get her own way.

Janine had let Mick's ex Linda believe their car crash was her fault, but as well as featuring Mick's exit, the Christmas Day episode saw the truth revealed with the shocking consequences reverberating throughout Walford.

Speaking shortly before the drama aired, Danny revealed a parting gift from his cast mates that raised more than a few eyebrows with his wife.

Alongside a more traditional present of an Albert Square board to mark his final scenes, Danny revealed that the cast also bought him a rude sign, which spelled out the words: “Shoot the c**t."

Typically well known for his colourful language choices, the prospect of a foul mouthed neon sign didn’t faze the star in the slightest, but it appears his real life wife, Jo Mas, was left less than impressed.

Opening up about the gift, Danny told The Sun: “Basically, I would say, ‘Shall we shoot the c***?’ — meaning the scene. I know it is unpalatable but it is something I would say.

“Anyway, I’ve had some issues with my wife about hanging this neon sign in the house The missus ain’t having it. It is in the office at the mo.”

Risqué gifts aside, however, the star did admit it was an emotional experience as he bid goodbye to the Square after nine years on the show.

Confessing he even shed a few tears, the London hard-man admitted he had initially wanted “to duck out” but was glad to have ultimately been given such a fitting and poignant leaving bash.

Organised by his on-screen wife Kellie Bright, who played his character Mick’s wife Linda, the emotional send-off included plenty of laughs and drinks, but also a compilation trailer of some of the best bits from his time on the soap.
