EastEnders star Rita Simon splits from husband after 14 years of marriage

EastEnders star Rita Simon has split from her husband Theo Silveston after 14 years of marriage.

The Roxy Mitchell actress has been living separately from her hairdresser ex since 2018, according to the Daily Star.

A rep for Rita told the publication: ‘Rita and Theo have been separated for almost two years and Theo moved out of the family home some time ago.

‘They are currently finalising their divorce, and amicably co-parenting their two daughters.’

Rita and Theo share their twin daughters, Jaimee and Maiya.

The pair tied the knot back in 2004, before welcoming their daughters in 2006.

The 43-year-old became an EastEnders legend after rocking up to Albert Square in 2007 along with her on-screen sister Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell).

Both had an incredible 10 years on the soap before the characters were dramatically killed off in 2017.

Just recently, Jack Branning star Scott Maslen revealed the pair were a force to be reckoned with on set, explaining they’d play pranks on their castmates.

In scenes from Secrets From The Square, Scott told Stacey Dooley: ‘The combination of Sam and Rita… they’d gang up!

‘It’s like in school… they’d leave things under my bed, like jacket potatoes with tuna in it. For days, weeks!

‘And in my dressing room, Rita would come in and go “Have you not found it yet?” and I’d be like, “What are you talking about?” and she goes “The jacket potato with the tuna!”

‘She pulled it out and it’s like, live!’

Elsewhere, Rita captured hearts when she appeared on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here in 2018, placing fourth on the show.
