Emmerdale fans left sobbing as Faith Dingle dies in emotional scenes on ITV soap

Emmerdale fans were left sobbing on Thursday's hour-long episode as Faith Dingle died after deciding to take her own life amid her devastating cancer battle.

Earlier this year, Faith discovered that her breast cancer had returned and it was terminal with her family trying to make her final few months as special as possible.

Only recently, Faith told daughter-in-law Moira Dingle about her plan to end her life as her health started to deteriorate amid her cancer battle.

On Wednesday, the Dingle family threw an emotional surprise day for Faith, where they brought the seaside to her after she was too unwell for their planned trip.

During the surprise, an emotional Faith took a quiet moment with Zak Dingle unaware Moira was listening in as she said: "Nothing can top today. Nothing, it's been perfect.

"Do you know, if I was to die tomorrow… I should die happy because I'm at peace, I'm finally at peace."

During Thursday's episode, Faith decided to go through with her end of life plan in devastating scenes as her son Cain Dingle realised what she had done as he comforted her during her final moments.

Elsewhere, Faith's daughter Chas Dingle was busy in a hotel with lover Al Chapman amid their affair, blissfully unaware of the tragic events occurring back at home especially with her phone on silent.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were left sobbing over the scenes as they praised Faith actress Sally Dexter for her heartbreaking portrayal.

One person said: "Omg @emmerdale sobbing , so amazingly done well done all #emmerdale."

A different account put: "I’m sobbing #emmerdale."

Another follower wrote: "Huge applause to tonights @emmerdale beautiful & sensitively written & acted by @HordleyJeff #SallyDexter what a gut wrenching episode. RIP Faith #emmerdale #Faith #Cain."

While a different viewer added: "Faith and Cain. Beautiful ending to the episode of them together, but incredibly emotional at the same time. Great acting by both. #Emmerdale."
