Emmerdale SPOILER – Determined to save Lachlan and Chrissie, Lawrence tried to take the blame for everything
The day of Lachlan’s court case has arrived and Lawrence is feeling guilty that he could be sent to jail.
“I don’t think his grandson intended to shoot him,” says John Bowe, who plays Lawrence.
“He was just trying to frighten him.”
What’s more, Lachlan is beaten up in prison after a visit from Cain, who is desperate to get Chrissie to sign over the garage.
“Lawrence is devastated to hear of the attack,” says John. “It brings back terrible memories of his own experiences behind bars 40 years ago.”
If the day started badly for Lawrence, it gets a lot worse when Ronnie finds out that it was his lover who framed Andy.
Backed into a corner and determined to at least save Lachlan and Chrissie (who could still be implicated for her part in the cover-up), Lawrence decides to take the blame for everything.
Despite his conflicted feelings, Ronnie isn’t about to lose the man he loves again and locks Lawrence in his office as his family wait for him to show up at court. Ronnie might be able to save Lawrence, but will Lachlan go to jail as a result?
“They’ve all dug themselves deeper and deeper,” says John.
“Even if Lawrence succeeds in taking the blame for the shooting and planting the gun in Andy’s car, it’s going to mean him heading back to the place he is so frightened of – prison.”
Chas and Charity unite
Cousins Chas and Charity have never been the best of mates, but at times they’ve made a cracking double act behind the bar in The Woolpack.
When Chas and Rebecca decide to throw a birthday party for Charity, it’s mostly to wind her up about her age and the fact she has no friends.
Despite the pub being practically empty, as predicted, the two singletons make the most of the night.
The next day, suitably hungover, the raucous pair get wind of a load of rugby players staying at the B&B and decide to check out the talent.
They’re not quite the fit young blokes they were both hoping for, but as the cogs begin to whir in Charity’s business brain, the Dingles may just be on to something…
Cain lashes out at Kyle
Last week was not the first time that Cain has hit Dan, but it was the first time young Kyle had ever seen his dad thwack someone and, unsurprisingly, it’s left a lasting impression on the scared youngster.
Zak and Lisa are the first to notice how withdrawn their grandson is and suggest he needs a bit of time with Kerry to cheer him up.
Cain’s having none of it, though, and when a stubborn Kyle gets on his nerves later in the day, he almost does the unthinkable as he raises his hand to his son.
Shocked at his own behaviour, Cain makes a drastic decision about his little boy…
