Emmerdale viewers plead with soap to get rid of annoying character

Emmerdale's Julie has public feud with Amelia

Emmerdale viewers have hit out over an “annoying” character who got involved in Amelia Spencer’s (played by Daisy Campbell) storyline on Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV soap.

Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) suggested Amelia lie to the police about her stalker Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton) sexually assaulting her.

Lloyd is currently fighting for his life in hospital after Amelia’s dad, Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), punched him in the face last month in a bid to protect her.

Dan faces a lengthy prison sentence if Lloyd doesn’t survive, and his wife is worried he will never come out of his coma.

Sarah thought Dan might be let off the hook if Amelia claimed Lloyd sexually assaulted her before he was knocked out.

However, Sarah ended up telling Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and Dan about what Amelia was going to say to the police on Wednesday’s episode.

Victoria and Dan tried to track Amelia down at the police station before the teenager made a false statement to an officer.

After finding her, Victoria issued Amelia with a stern warning and begged her not to lie to the police.

The young mother took Victoria’s advice after some persuasion, but fans were left wondering why she was involved in the storyline.
