Hollyoaks Felix actor gushes over co-star relationship amid Bobby murder fears

Hollyoaks star Richard Blackwood has opened up on his thoughts on his character Felix Westwood being Mercedes McQueen's new man.

The former landlady, played by Jennifer Metcalfe, doesn't have a good track record when it comes to her love life.

She has been married to four different men, with her last husband Sylver McQueen (David Tag) died after sustaining injuries in the Salon de Thé de MArnie explosion earlier this year.

However, Richard has revealed to Daily Star that he's "pretty happy" about Felix being partnered with Mercedes.

He said: "I was pretty exciting about it because the character of Mercedes is very prevalent on the show whether she does bad or good.

"She's one of the star characters so for me to know that essentially Felix has got himself into that place now, as a character where they wanted to get the two of them together, it kind of showed to me how much the character has revered, so I was pretty happy about that.

"Also knowing Jen as well, it made it easier.

"We've not worked together as much as we have now but us knowing each other it made it quite easy for us to film because we really get along.

"It's always better when you get along with the actor or actress to convey the scenes because there's a trust that's there and we both have that."

In upcoming scenes, Mercedes invites Felix over for Christmas dinner but her killer son Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox) is unhappy about his mum’s new love interest.

Bobby attempts warn off Felix as him and Mercedes get closer, but he thinks he has a way to handle the troubled youngster.

Later, Bobby turns on Felix when he calls him "son" and follows him to Price Slice, locks him in the storeroom and lights a match to start a fire.

But unknown to Bobby, Felix has already gone back to the McQueen’s and he’s locked Felix's son DeMarcus Westwood (Tomi Ade) in there instead.

Addressing whether or not Felix should be worried of Bobby, Richard explained: "Worried is the wrong word. "I think Felix just needs to be aware.

"Felix knows things wouldn't worry him because he knows how to deal with that.

"It makes him very cautious and he realises there's much more to Bobby than meets the eye.

"If not for Felix, more for Mercedes. I don't think Felix is thinking Bobby is going to be a threat to him but ultimately threat to Mercedes."
