I'm A Celeb 2020: EastEnders writer wants Mo Farah for cameo role

EastEnders writer Natalie Mitchell wants Sir Mo Farah to guest star in the BBC soap after his uncanny impression of Phil Mitchell on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

And, to be honest, why wouldn’t she?

During Wednesday’s instalment, to pass the time Shane Richie, who used to play Alfie Moon in the BBC One soap, recreated an EastEnders scene with Mo.

And in order to do that, Shane had to teach the Olympian how to walk and talk like Phil, who was played by actor Steve McFadden.

Sir Mo followed Shane around the campfire as he perfected his walk and accent, yelling lines like, ‘Alfie, this is my manor.’

As Shane demonstrated how Phil walks he told Sir Mo: ‘Phil walks like this, he’s a bit more round-shouldered and he kinda just walks like that.’

‘Keep your head down like that, “Alfie can I have a word”,’ Shane said in his best Phil impression.

‘He’s moving along nicely with the East End accent. I reckon if we’re here for another couple of days, he could be a new reg in the Queen Vic,’ the former soap star commented in the Telegraph.

Speaking about his new ‘role’, the Sir Mo added: ‘I learned some more cockney from Alfie. I just remember Phil Mitchell telling someone off or him not being happy with someone.’

Taking to Twitter after the brilliant segment, soap writer Natalie revealed to her followers that she was going to pitch Sir Mo to play a guest character.

‘Am obviously going to pitch Mo Farah to play a guest character at our next EastEnders story conference,’ she penned.

One of her followers commented: ‘It was like Phil was actually in that castle. Just spooky.’ To which she replied: ‘Uncanny.’

Either way, this needs to happened.

Last night’s instalment saw the eviction of Sir Mo and AJ Pritchard, leaving just four celebs left in the castle.

Shane, Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, author Giovanna Fletcher and presenter Vernon Kay will now all battle it out in the final.

But, who will be crowned King or Queen of the jungle?

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs daily at 9pm on ITV.
