Jill Duggar Congratulated Her 18-Year-Old Brother, Justin Duggar, on His Engagement Despite Family Rift

It’s official — the Duggars are prepping for another wedding. Justin Duggar’s just 18 years old, but he’s the latest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 kids to prepare for marriage.

All of the Duggars seem ultra-excited for Justin and his fiancée to tie the knot. And it looks like Jill Duggar is also offering congratulatory words despite her uncomfortable standing with the rest of her family.

18-year-old Justin Duggar is engaged to Claire Spivey

Those who’ve kept up with the Duggars know they encourage courtships and quick marriages. The Duggars are known for “dating with a purpose” as soon as they turn 18, and their courtships typically only last a few months.

As for Justin and Claire, they started courting before Justin turned 18 — and they had a relatively long courtship prior to their engagement. “After 14 months of courting, I’m thrilled beyond words to be engaged to @justinmduggar!!!” Claire announced via Instagram.

While Justin got engaged just a day after turning 18, he and Claire talked about how excited they are to have found the person they’re meant to spend the rest of his days with. “There is nothing comparable to finding the one you are meant to spend your life with,” they told TLC, OK! reports. “We know we have found that in each other. We cannot wait to be married and are looking forward to a life together of faith in Christ, love for one another, and happiness!”

Jill Duggar congratulated Justin on his engagement

Jill’s getting a ton of attention from Duggar fans, as she’s finally coming forward with details regarding the alleged family rift. Back in December 2019, a fan asked Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, if he and Jill ever see the other Duggars for the holidays. And Derick explained they rarely see Jill’s side of the family, as they need permission from Jim Bob before entering the large family home.

Since then, Jill and Derick have created YouTube videos answering fan questions. And many fans might be wondering how connected Jill is with her younger siblings. As for Justin, it doesn’t seem like Jill’s had much involvement with his engagement celebrations. And she hasn’t appeared to interact with many of the congratulatory Instagram posts.

The streak seems to have been broken now, though. On Nov. 16, Justin posted a photo to Instagram of himself and Claire. And Jill commented, “Congrats bro! Being married to your best friend [is] the best!!!”

Jill noted many of her family members aren’t happy with her life decisions

So, where do Jill and Justin stand today? It seems like the comment is an indicator that the siblings are on fine terms, and it’s likely Jill will attend the couple’s wedding. But we can’t forget about what Jill told her fans via YouTube regarding how her family feels about her life choices.

“Are they supportive? Not always,” Jill explained of her family via YouTube. “Everybody’s gonna have their opinion about different things. I feel like some of my siblings are probably more like, have something to say about it than others.” She then added that “not all” of her siblings are “cool” with the direction she’s taken her life, but she can’t be “controlled” by what others think.

No matter what happens between Jill and the other Duggars, we’re glad she’s going her own way and living her truth no matter the cost. And it looks like things are fine between her and Justin after all.
