Jordan, 30, and his fellow I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! campmate Ruthie Henshall, 53, were chosen at random to take part in the latest Castle Coin challenge. After ushering a number of ducks into pens, the pair got their hands on the currency and headed over to speak with Kiosk Cledwyn about what treats they could take back to camp. On offer were scotch eggs or chocolate mini eggs with the ITV reality show contestants opting for the former as they thought this would be more substantial for their fellow all-stars.

After the camp answered the question of the day correctly, Jordan and Ruthie returned to the castle with the scotch eggs.

Unfortunately, the reaction didn’t go down as well as they had hoped with the BBC Radio One presenter admitting he had made the wrong decision.

Taking to Twitter, fans watching on weren’t too happy as one wrote: “Who the hell chooses scotch eggs over chocolate mini eggs? I’m appalled #ImACeleb.”

Another added: “I’m partial to a scotch egg, but they’re not in the same league as mini eggs, surely? #imacelebrity #ImACeleb.”

Whilst a third posted: “Who the f*** picks a scotch egg over chocolate mini eggs? #ImACeleb,” a fourth remarked: “Yeah I would have gone for mini chocolate eggs. Not scotch #ImACeleb.”

A sixth commented: “If my campmates came back with scotch eggs and told me the other option was mini eggs, I would be fuming #ImACeleb.”

However, despite the backlash from his decision in the Castle Coin Challenge, it seems the radio presenter is a huge hit with fans.

According to the latest odds from Coral bookmakers, Jordan is on track to win this series.

Fans are getting behind the Yorkshire-born contestant, who sits at 6/5 to become King of the Jungle.

Not far behind him are EastEnders star Shane Ritchie, 56, at 3/1 and television personality Vernon Kay, 46, at 6/1.

Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “It’s been a week in the castle now for the campmates and the betting shows that Jordan North is the one that is impressing viewers and punters the most.”

However, things aren’t looking too good for Paralympian Hollie Arnold, 26, who could become an early casualty from the competition.

“Hollie Arnold is the outsider of the pack at 100-1, and we think she is in line to be the first to leave the 2020 series,” Aitkenhead added.

Others who lie in the danger zone of being booted first include former Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard, 26, whose chances of winning currently stand at 50/1.

These match the odds of journalist and broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, 52, who was appointed deputy leader of the camp by Jordan.

The latter recently appeared on the reality’s shows spin-off web series, The Daily Drop and revealed some interesting information about the camp.

Speaking of being the leader of the castle, the Yorkshire-born contestant said: “It’s fun…ish. You’re just not allowed to do much and I don’t like doing that.

“I like getting stuck in and muck in with the rest of the team and I have to sit there and give orders.

“I’d rather be told what to do than tell people what to do,” he added before discussing who out of his fellow campmates had left him the most starstruck.

“Russell Watson – I remember when his first album came out, I was about 10 years old, everybody listened to that, it was called The Voice,” Jordan explained.

“Sometimes I just look at him and think, ‘I’m sat next to Russell Watson, oh my god Russell Watson just burst into song.’”

On who he has learnt the most from, the radio presenter explained: “Beverley, I’ve learnt a lot from Beverley.

“She’s a lovely soul, I think she’s ace and she teaches me things and tells me things all the time, she’s got a 1000 tales to tell.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues Tuesday at 9:15pm on ITV.
