Julia Bradbury shares breast cancer update in final TV appearance before surgery

Julia Bradbury gave an update on her devastating cancer diagnosis on Thursday's episode of This Morning.

Earlier this month, the 51-year-old presenter confirmed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and would undergo a mastectomy in October.

Asked how she was feeling by presenter Phillip Schofield live on the programme, Julia said: "I feel alright actually, thank you.

"People might know I've been open about my breast cancer diagnosis and I'm going for my op in a couple of weeks."

Revealing that she got the call confirming her diagnosis while filming for This Morning, she added: "You guys said 'do you want to come and talk about it on the show? In the studio?'

"And it wasn't that I didn't want to come and see you, it was that I wanted to be in the woodlands and I wanted to finish these series of films for you because they're really important to me and I wanted to be able to feel the love that I do for nature."

Julia then confirmed her appearance on the show today was "the last live TV [she's] doing before the operation".

She added: "I will see you on the other side."

Phil and his co-host Holly Willoughby gave Julia their best wishes, as viewers praised the "professional" presenter.

One wrote: "Big respect to Julia, being her usual professional, cheerful self, not an easy time ahead for her with her breast cancer diagnosis."

Another commented: "Please give Julia Bradbury all my love, and tell her she'll be fine, just 3 weeks post op, so know how she's feeling."

Speaking earlier this month about the diagnosis, Julia told Mail Online: "I have to hope I have caught mine early enough.

"A mastectomy is a shattering thing to go through but it means that I am going to live and be here for my children."

Julia will have a six-centimetre tumour removed from her breast during the procedure.

Surgeons will also extract tissue from her lymph nodes which they will test to determine whether the cancer has spread.

This Morning airs from 10 am on weekdays on ITV.
