Lady Gaga might have risen to fame for her powerful singing voice and outrageous costumes, but in the years since then, the superstar performer has proven that she is equally talented as an actor. Lady Gaga has appeared in a number of television and film projects over the past few years, but it is possible that her latest role could be the one that earns her Oscar glory.

House of Gucci features Lady Gaga in a prime role, and with fans excited to see her take on an infamous true story, the film is poised for box-office success. Recently, Lady Gaga sat down for an intimate interview, where she discussed the process of preparing for her role in House of Gucci, revealing that she “lived as” her character for well over a year.

When is ‘House of Gucci’ going to be released?

House of Gucci is a biographical crime drama that is loosely based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. It focuses on the sensationalized 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver, and the role that his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, played in his death. Featuring a star-studded cast, House of Gucci stars Driver, Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, Jared Leto, Al Pacino, and Jeremy Irons.

The film is set for release to theaters on November 24, and is already stirring up a great deal of buzz, thanks to its high-powered cast, costume and set design, and immersive, twisting story. Much of the excitement is centered on Lady Gaga and the large role that she will undoubtedly play in the film’s success.

‘House of Gucci’ features Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani

Lady Gaga has appeared in big-budget films in the past, most notably in the critically-acclaimed 2018 musical drama A Star Is Born. However, her role in House of Gucci is set to be her biggest yet, pairing her with other superstar talents like the hot young actor Adam Driver and industry vets such as Al Pacino.

Lady Gaga underwent a major physical transformation for her role as Patrizia Reggiani and can be seen in the film’s trailers wearing a series of high-fashion ’80s pieces and rocking dark, highly stylized hair. She also affects a strong Italian accent—one which the star revealed in a recent interview that she maintained for over a year in order to fully do justice to the character.

How did Lady Gaga prep for her role in ‘House of Gucci’?

As Lady Gaga revealed in a recent interview with British Vogue, she took her role in House of Gucci very seriously. “It is three years since I started working on it,” she said of House of Gucci, “and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. I never broke. I stayed with her.”

Lady Gaga explained further, noting “It was nearly impossible for me to speak in the accent as a blonde. I instantly had to dye my hair, and I started to live in a way whereby anything that I looked at, anything that I touched, I started to take notice of where and when I could see money.” The star said that her transformation was so intense that she started to suffer some “psychological difficulty” toward the end of filming -but all in all, she described the experience of making House a Gucci a “magical” one.
