Leyla confesses to murdering Maya Stepney in Emmerdale

Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) finally revealed what happened that night in Emmerdale – she murdered Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein)!

The words came right out of her mouth – she murdered the pervert school teacher.

In previous scenes, after finding out that Maya had been abusing Leyla’s son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) during their night out clubbing, the girls bundled Maya into a car and she hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Meanwhile, the girls have been acting more and more shifty, with Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) even assisting Leyla in disposing of a dodgy looking suitcase. Full of Maya’s clothes, or her decomposing body?

Either way, something was a miss as they span lie after lie about where Maya really was.

But while all that was going on, David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) has been pining for his girlfriend, gutted that he hasn’t had the chance to explain himself, and he began trying everything he could to track her down.

Leyla freaked out as David revealed Liam had offered to get him Maya’s mum’s number, and tried to put him off. But David was hell bent on tracking her down, which sent Leyla fleeing back to her house to confide in Tracy and Priya (Fiona Wade).

But as they talked they heard a noise upstairs and discovered Jacob had returned to the village – although no one actually questioned why he was upstairs.

Leyla broke down and confessed she knew Maya had been abusing him, but Jacob stuck up for his teacher, getting nasty with his mum as she branded it abuse as Leyla gently tried to explain he’d been groomed, telling him Maya ‘was’ a ‘monster.’

Jacob wouldn’t hear it as he struggled with the truth, but picked up on Leyla using past tense. He then told her that no matter what she said, he and Maya were going to be together.

Leyla suddenly lost it and blurted it out: ‘She’s dead, I killed her.’

Did Leyla really murder Maya in cold blood out in those woods that night?

It’s yet to be revealed what really happened during those lost hours, but with the truth out there will Jacob report his own mum to the police?
