Lorraine Kelly cries on air in sweet moment with emotional Eddie Izzard
Lorraine Kelly was reduced to tears during a sweet moment on her show as comedian Eddie Izzard thanked her for her support.
Eddie, 58, was on the show to discuss her latest fundraising efforts as she's been undergoing 31 marathons in 31 days.
The comedian candidly spoke about her gender with Lorraine after revealing her wishes to be referred to using she/her pronouns during a television appearance last year.
Later, when Lorraine was finishing their chat, the Scottish host thanked Eddie for being on the show.
After wishing Izzard good luck, she replied: "And thank you for being so supportive.
"You really have been so supportive, it's just -" Eddie became tearful for a moment as she stopped mid-sentence.
She added: "It's just great that you're there."
Lorraine then became emotional as she replied: "Eddie, thanks so much. That means the world."
Last year, Eddie appeared on Sky Arts series Portrait Artist of the Year where she spoke about being gender-fluid and wanting to be referred to using she/her pronouns.
Speaking about this, Lorraine asked Eddie: "Now look, just before Christmas you were in the news obviously wanting to be known by ‘she’ now, and can I apologise to you now if I get that wrong because we’re still kind of going along with it."
Eddie replied: "Let me say this, I just request – you know I've been out for 35 years, you know this, 1985 (that's) 35 years.
"And a lot of people have been supportive about this. I just put in a request, I was asked, I was on Portrait Artist of the Year and they said 'well, what would you like to be known as?'
"And I thought I'd quite like to be known as 'she' because I'm in girl mode."
"But basically, that's a request but it's never a demand, it's never an insistence and some people twist that and some people get het up about it.", she added.
The star continued: "It's as if some of the world are saying 'Are you serious about this? Are you serious about being trans? Because we just didn't know for 35 years!'"
Lorraine giggled as she added: "It doesn't matter, as long as you're a decent human being and you tell the truth and tell your own truth and you’re kind, surely that’s more important than shoving a label on because it doesn’t really matter?”
Eddie agreed: "It's live and let live, so any one time if anyone refers to me as 'she' or 'her', I feel a wonderful feeling. But if they go 'he' or they go 'Eddie' or 'mate' or 'mush', which is alright."
