Love Island chiefs have unveiled the latest addition who will be walking into the Majorca villa just one week before the show returns for the eighth series.

As a fresh group of singletons hope to embark on their journey to find love, it appears that bosses are pulling out all the stops this year.

Brainy pharmaceutical hunk Ikenna Ekwonna has been unveiled as the latest singleton to be named as a romantic hopeful ahead of the return.

The 23-year-old from Nottingham, East Mids, revealed that he's previously been in just one relationship but is hoping to find his life partner.

Reflecting on what he's going to add to the villa, he said: "Hopefully, I'm going to bring spontaneity and excitement.

"I'm not really shy to speak to people and I don't really care too much about what people think."

While he may have only had one relationship, he certainly goes above and beyond, explaining: "I took my ex on holiday for her birthday.

"We went to Barcelona for four nights and I was pretty young then, maybe like 19-20.

"It was for her birthday so she didn't know about it, it was quite a lot of money to spend for that age."

Away from his hunt for love, the brainy hunk can often be found working out in the gym, as well as sharing snaps of his travels across the globe with his pals.

According to Ikenna's LinkedIn profile, before his stint in the famous villa, he worked for AstraZeneca – the leading company behind the coronavirus vaccination.

However, Ikenna isn't the only brainbox entering the villa this year, with scientist Dami Hope also hoping to find the love of his life.

The Senior Microbiologist from Dublin, Ireland, said he's hoping to try "new things" by putting himself out there.

He said: "This year I was kind of being more open to new things and I think actually that's why I put myself out there to get some new experiences.

"Love Island is a different experience, I will be talking to different girls, it might not go well with some, might go well with others, so it’s a fun experience."

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
