Love Island viewers fume as axed Hugo calls his time in the villa 'tragic' while standing next to partner Amy

LOVE Island viewers are fuming after Hugo called his time in the villa "tragic" while standing next to his partner Amy.

Hugo and Amy were in the bottom at risk of elimination after fans were asked to vote for their favourite couples.

Alongside Sam and Mary, as well as Tyler and Clarisse, the rest of the Islanders were forced to choose which boy and girl to save.

Despite looking like he was guaranteed a stay, the rest of the villa chose Tyler to stay so he could couple up with Kaz – with Mary being saved by the boys.

During the exit interviews, they were asked to sum up their Love Island experience.

Hugo answered: "My search for love in there… tragic is probably the word for it.

"I'll walk away with my head held high, I stayed true to myself and I look forward to the next chapter on what life has in store for Mr Hammond."

However, Amy was stunned by Hugo's statements – staring down the lens of the camera with wide eyes before looking at him in shock.

One person said: "Hugo!!! U didn’t just say ur love in love island has been tragic whilst standing next to Amy?????"

Another added: "Hugo calling his love island journey tragic in front of the only girls he’s managed to couple up with and not friendzone #loveisland #hugo #amy"

A third remarked: "Whoa Hugo was savage. Did he forget he was still coupled up with Amy and that she was stood next to him"
