Love Island star Hugo Hammond has shut down claims that his infamous "job done" kiss was filmed five times.

The PE teacher, 24, appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Wednesday morning to chat to temporary host Christine Lampard about his time on the ITV2 dating show.

He was brutally dumped from the villa by his fellow Islanders in a shock voting twist last week alongside Amy Day, Clarisse Juliette and Sam Jackson.

Chatting about his experience, Hugo revealed: "I had such a good run in there but It was definitely the right time for me to leave.

"I think potentially I didn't want to compromise for love. I wouldn't say I was a picky but I just didn't get that spark like the other boys had."

Christine later informed Hugo that his co-star Aaron Francis appeared on the show last week.

She added that he disapproved of Hugo saying "job done" after sharing his first kiss with former love interest Amy in the Casa Amor villa.

Hugo said: "I look forward to seeing Aaron soon. The "job done" comment was meant to be something you just think but it just came out.

"It wasn't filmed five times or anything like whats been reported."

Aaron was not the only one who cringed at Hugo's comment after sharing a snog with Amy.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "How did Hugo say "job done" after lipsing Amy #cringe."

Another added: "'Job done" Hugo is so cringe."

A third person posted: "Hugo is soo cringe 'job done'.

While a fourth social media user said: "Nah Hugo just said 'job done'."

It was reported last week that Love Island producers had "grown tired" of Hugo and refused to give him airtime after it took "five attempts to film his first kiss with Amy Day in Casa Amor".

A TV source told MailOnline: 'Hugo has disappointed producers, they were relying on him to be a big character in the villa, but he's ended up fading into the background.

'The aim of the show is to form genuine connections and he's struggled to do that with female Islanders, and even some of the males in the group.

'It took Hugo five attempts to film his first kiss with Amy and his 'job done' comment gave the game away."

However, a Love Island spokesperson said: "This is not true."
