Love Island stars Teddy Soares and Faye Winter have discussed how co-star Liberty Poole is adapting to single life after she ended her romance with Jake Cornish days before the show's final.

At the time of parting ways with Jake, 24, the former Islander, 22, said: "I just don't feel like you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me."

Talking about how Liberty has adapted to single life, Teddy and Faye exclusively spoke to OK! on the red carpet at Thursday's 2021 National Television Awards at London's O2, sponsored by OK!

Teddy said that Liberty deserves someone who will make her "feel deserved" while Faye added that she is "proud" of her former co-star, who she likened to a little sister.

Faye declared: "I think she's loving it, she is a strong, independent woman, she doesn't need no man!" while Teddy added: "She's strutting her stuff!"

He continued: "She obviously deserves someone who is going to make her feel like she wants to feel deserved when she gets that, she will be even happier!"

To which Faye added of her friend and how she handled herself in the ITV2 villa: "I'm proud of her!"

It comes after Liberty said that in terms of love with ex Jake it is the "end of their journey" on Sunday's Love Island Aftersun reunion, which Jake missed due to illness.

During the episode, it showed Jake and Liberty reunite in a pre-recorded segment as they spoke about their relationship since leaving the villa as she confronted him for not making any effort to make it "work properly".

Jake said: "How are things going, obviously, you're a busy girl. FaceTimed you a couple of times…" to which Liberty corrected him with: "Once. It was once."

Liberty admitted that she was "nervous" to see him, saying: "It's hard because obviously I do still have feelings for you but I just think at the time, it wasn't like working. I just feel like there hasn't been effort made to make it work properly."

Jake then added: "Even if we were together, it wouldn't work because I am so busy…"

Liberty then confronted him again, saying: "Kaz and Tyler, and everyone else are really busy, they can still make time for each other."

Jake responded with: "I'm only saying what you said to me. We always say, live in the moment, no regrets. This and that, that's how you felt, that's how I felt… obviously we're not together."

Liberty added: "At the moment, we're going our separate ways and I always say as well, what's meant to be, will be, and for now, obviously, it's meant to be that we're not. I wish you all the best for the future and that you excel in everything that you do."

To which Jake replied: "Yeah, and you, you're going to smash it. Onwards and upwards, baby!"
