Mark Pougatch has fronted much of ITV’s Euro 2020 coverage this year, presenting pre-match coverage while pundits analyse the action. He will be at the heart of the excitement tonight as England face Denmark in the semi-finals of Euro 2020 on ITV. England manager Gareth Southgate will be looking to settle the demons of Euro 96, where he missed a decisive penalty at Wembley sending Germany through to the final.

Pougatch has had a distinguished media career, previously working for BBC Radio 5 Live.

Pougatch also had history at ITV, hosting coverage of Euro 2016, Six Nations rugby, and the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

He also joined BT Sport in the summer of 2016 to host the show BT Sport Score, to rival Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday.

In January 2020, it was announced that a number of BBC reporters and presenters – including Pougatch – were leaving the broadcaster.

The BBC said that Pougatch had “decided to move on”.

A BBC spokesperson said: “Mark is a brilliant broadcaster who has been an integral part of 5 Live Sport for years. Recently he has been presenting fewer programmes because his other commitments have grown and he has now decided to move on. We wish him well.”

But the presenter had a different version of events.

He told the Times’ Martyn Ziegler: “The BBC have decided they want to go in a different direction and that’s their prerogative. They decided it, not me — I don’t know why they put that statement out saying I have decided to move on.
