Married At First Sight UK finale in tatters as E4 shows repeat instead

Daily Star TV gives you all the latest interviews and spoilers and Ed Gleave will send you telly’s hot takes straight to your inbox every Sunday

Married At First Sight UK fans were fuming on Thursday evening, as the penultimate episode was completely missing from their screens – and a repeat of Wednesday's episode aired in its place.

It comes just days before the live reunion episode is set to air on Monday.

The show began as usual at 9pm – but fans were left dismayed to find out that it was the exact same episode they'd watched the night before, as the couples decided if they wanted to renew their vows.

And to make matters worse, their TV screens soon froze altogether on an E4 advert of Josh.

Fuming fans – and those involved in the show – flocked to social media to air their complaints, with expert Paul C Brunson forced to apologise, as he tweeted: "Sending message in now but I don’t believe it can be changed now. Sorry everyone."

He followed up: "I’ve dropped two messages into the network. The moment I hear what is happening, I'll let you all know."

Paul's fellow expert Charlene Douglas also posted an update, which read: "E4 are having major technical issues at the moment, and are working hard to fix the problem.

"Episode 20 will be shown as soon as these issues have been resolved. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

One fuming fan tweeted: "Now a blank screen. God sake, thank god I actually watched it rather than recording!"

Someone else posted: "Not about E4 f***ing up when it’s the last episode of MAFS!!!!!" with an angry emoji.

And another fan wrote: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU PLAYED THE WRONG TAPE!!!!!"

Soon the programming ended entirely, with E4 viewers simply receiving a message which read: "Programmes will continue shortly".

E4 quickly tweeted a statement in response to the fury, which informed fans: "We’re aware it’s yesterday’s episode of #MAFSUK playing out this evening and apologise.

"It’s all down to our ongoing tech issues which we’re working hard on.

"We’ll update here as soon as we know more and when you’ll be able to see the final episode of MAFS UK."

The official account followed up: "Sadly we’re still experiencing some tech issues which means some viewers may have problems watching our channels or access services.

"Sorry for the ongoing disruption – we’ll let you know here as and when we have updates."

Channel 4 has been experiencing various issues with audio, subtitling and shows freeze-framing over the past week.

Some viewers have also had problems accessing its online streaming service All4.

At approximately 9.40pm on Thursday, programming did appear to resume with a series of adverts.

But sadly, for online viewers it was not meant to be, as they received another error report which read: "Sorry – the current show is not available on Watch Live.

"We'll be back shortly."

And for viewers watching at home, they were instead shown a repeat of First Dates instead of Married At First Sight.
