Bros star Matt faced the dance-off with his partner Nadiya Bychkova during the fourth week of the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima also found themselves in the dangerous position, but were saved by the judges in an unanimous decision. Fans of the BBC competition now have the chance to have their say in an Express.co.uk poll – should Matt have been saved instead?

Saturday night saw some high scores being dealt by the judges, with many of the famous faces deemed to be “improving”.

Matt and Nadiya, who were met with some criticism to their routine, found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard after receiving 20 points for their jive, which they performed to All Shook Up by Paul McCartney.

Kym and Graziano were much further up the leaderboard with a score of 32.

The duo danced a samba to Volare by Gipsy Kings and received heaps of praise from the judges.

Only four couples were in front of Kym in the leaderboard, with Hamza Yassin taking the lead with an impressive score of 39.

Fleur East and Vito Coppola, who found themselves in the bottom two last week, were safely in second place with 38.

Tyler West and Dianne Buswell were third, while Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu were only slightly ahead of Kym.

EastEnders star James Bye and his partner Amy Dowden also received 32 points.

Just ahead of Matt at the bottom of the list were Will Mellor and Nancy Xu with 23 points.

Tony Adams and Katya Jones achieved 26, while Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez scored 29.

When it was time for the judges to make their decision after both couples had performed again, Craig Revel Horwood was first to decide.

“I think both couples went up a major notch, I mean Matt, you went absolutely fantastically mad in that and I really loved it,” he commented.

He added: “Kim you were really, really great as well, but the couple I would like to save is Kym and Graziano.”

“From that dance-off only I have decided to save Kym and Graziano,” Motsi Mabuse echoed.

Anton Du Beke remarked: “I’d just like to say you should both be thrilled with the way you performed in the dance-off, the most high-pressured of situations.

“Matt, I thought that was the best performance you’ve put in in the whole series, you should be really proud of yourself.

“But the couple with a higher technical ability I think for me, going through, is Kym and Graziano.”

Following the decision, an emotional Matt stated: “It’s an extraordinary experience, I have been in America for 25 years.

“Thank you judges for your candour, you’ve helped me in many ways, my posture – Anton, I am more aware of it.

“This lovely lady beside me, a world champion with all the patience. I am very honoured to have danced with you, and everyone who is still in, I love you guys, go smash it guys.”
