Naya Rivera’s Glee co-stars hold hands at lake where actress’ body was found five days after disappearance – The Sun

NAYA Rivera’s friends, family and Glee costars gathered at Lake Piru just before it was announced her body had been found after a five day search.

The remains were discovered after a frantic search for the actress, 33, who jumped in the water at the California lake last Wednesday and didn't resurface, according to her four-year-old son, Josey.

Naya’s Glee costars were among the dozen people lined up as they held hands looking out at the water, ABC7 first captured.

Close friend and former cast mate Heather Morris, 33, was pictured looking devastated as stood on the shore.

One day before she went to the lake, the actress admitted to feeling “helpless” and asked the Ventura Sheriff’s Department to allow her to join the search party.

She tweeted on Sunday: “I’m trying to conduct an on foot search and rescue mission along with a small group of friends at Lake Piru.

"I understand your team is doing EVERYTHING in their power, but we are feeling helpless, powerless and want to help in any way.”

Fans of the beloved Fox sitcom think she is joined by Glee’s Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Chris Colfer, and Jenna Ushkowitz – who all appear to be in the heartbreaking photo.

Naya’s distraught father George and ex husband Ryan Dorsey, 36, were also snapped at Lake Piru today.

George was pictured walking in the area while Ryan – who shares little boy Josey with Naya – closely followed.

On Monday, Ventura County officials confirmed the body found was Naya, reported first by the Los Angeles Times.

"This is an area we've been searching really hard because we believe that's where she was last seen in the water," Ventura Police Captain Eric Buschow told reporters.

”I don't know what the depth is where she was found but I'll have to get more details,” he added.

The police captain confirmed boat crews and divers found the remains floating in the water and said an autopsy would be conducted at a later time.

Who is Naya Rivera’s son Josey Hollis Dorsey and why was he found alone in a boat in Lake Piru?

Glee actress Naya Rivera was found dead on Monday after vanishing on California's Lake Piru – with her toddler son found alone on a rented boat.

Naya’s four-year-old son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, was discovered by authorities at the Southern California lake shortly before 5pm on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old mom’s life jacket was reportedly still in the boat and Josey was asleep when the vessel was first found.

Divers and helicopters did a five-day search for the body before it was discovered on Monday, Ventura Country officals confirmed.

Two days before she went missing, she posted a heartbreaking final picture of her and Josey with the words “just the two of us."

His father is 36-year-old American actor Ryan Dorsey, who starred in many high profile TV shows – which include Vampire Diaries, Ray Donovan and Shameless.

KTLA reported that the emergency team found the body floating in the lake "at first light" this morning.

Last Wednesday, Naya’s son was found alone on the boat in Ventura and told cops his mom went in the water – but she never came back up.

Naya played cheerleader Santana Lopez for six seasons on Glee and is the third cast member from the series to die in their thirties.

Cory Monteith died at 31 in 2013 from a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin, while his co-star Mark Salling – who Rivera dated at one point – killed himself in 2018 at 35 after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

Monday July 13 – the day Naya’s body was found at Lake Piru – marks the seven-year anniversary of Cory’s death.

Glee fans are mourning the loss of the TV quarterback and glee club student – with the hashtag #7YearsWithoutCory trending all day – as the tragic death of Naya is revealed.
