Neighbours Michelle Scully star health update after stage four cancer diagnosis

Neighbours star Kate Keltie, who played Michelle Sculley on the Aussie soap, has shared a health update with her fans.

The actress was told she is now cancer free just four months after being given a stage four diagnosis by her doctor.

Kate underwent chemotherapy in a "fight for her life" after the devastating news, but it seems it has paid off for the star.

The actress responded well to treatment and updated her GoFundMe page, which had been set up to raise money for her treatment.

She updated the page as she wrote: "I recently received results of my latest scan and was told that there had been a complete metabolic response to diseased areas.

"In other words, it seems I am cancer-free."

The page has now been deactivated after it managed to raise a total of $37,000 (£20k), which was $12,000 (£6,400) more than its goal.

Kate's former Neighbours co-star Holly Valance and her husband Nick donated $2,000 to the cause after she played Kate's on-screen sister Felicity from 1999 to 2004.

It had been reported that before her recovery, Kate's cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, blood and hip bones.

The start as also warned that the chemotherapy treatment would mean she would lose her hair and not be able to carry children.

But the star is now cancer free, as her uncle told Daily Mail Australia: "All I know is that she qualified for a particular type of treatment and had it.

"When she went back with her mother and father, the doctor said, 'It's gone – it's completely gone'.

"They didn't know what they were hearing when they were told. They said, 'What do you mean, it's gone?'

"He said, 'It's completely gone'."

Kate stepped back from showbiz back in 2008 and has been working as a legal consultant, which sparked her friends to create a GoFundMe page as she was unable to work while receiving treatment.
