Netflix fans convinced Sex Education stars are dating after spotting 'clues' on their Instagram

SEX Education fans are convinced its stars Asa Butterfield and Mimi Keene are dating in real life.

The pair, who play Otis and Ruby in the hit Netflix comedy-drama, saw their characters strike up a troubled romance in the latest season.

However, it all went to pot when Otis failed to return Mimi's declaration of love.

Instead, he turned his attention back to sex therapy partner Maeve, who he has had feelings for since having a wet dream about her in episode three of season one.

Super fan @espinacaconpure came up with an intriguing theory that Mimi and Asa have been more lucky in love away from the cameras.

They noticed the pair have both been pictured in fields strewn with buttercups on their respective Instagram pages.

With Mimi captioning hers "do you like butter?" leading some to believe it was a hint at the leading man.

The speculation increased when both made the shots their profile pictures.

One fan wrote on Mimi's picture: "You mean asa butterfield ???."

Another said: "Do you mean? @asabopp."

Sex Education was recently confirmed for season 4 just a week after the latest episodes dropped.

It has become an international smash hit since its launch in 2019, with season three proving raunchier and more heartfelt than ever.

Viewers were left with a massive cliffhanger at the end of the recent episodes with Moordale High being shut down after being branded the ‘sex school’ by the media.

Its efforts to breakdown taboos around sex and sexuality massively backfired on the pupils with the board removing funding from them.

As a result, the final year students were informed they will have to go to new schools in order to finish their A-levels, tearing them all apart.

On top of that, Otis was left gutted when Maeve revealed she would be heading over to the States for a specialist course.

Adam and Eric also broke fans’ hearts after deciding to split up – with Adam still finding his feet after coming out as bisexual.
