Sam, who plays Jamie Fraser in the Starz drama series, joined Outlander co-star Graham McTavish, who portrays Dougal MacKenzie, to create a show exploring their homeland of Scotland. Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham launched earlier this year to Amazon Prime and saw the friends competing against each other in different challenges. Graham explained how one task saw Sam strip naked and leap into the icy water.

He said: “Sam is relentlessly competitive. I’m pretty competitive too, I like to win. But if I lose, I’m going to be okay about it but Sam needs to win.

“And that set up – immediately – quite a comic environment for us because it was gold, watching his reactions.

“I didn’t expect to win in any of those sporting competitions, I really did not expect to win.”

Speaking to Goldderby, he continued: “And when I did, I was childishly delighted.”

“And for good reason,” added interviewer Marcus James Dixon, “because the fact that you won all those sports challenges means you didn’t have t go skinny dipping in the Atlantic Ocean.”

“That’s right,” replied Graham. “And it was freezing. And it was the worst day for weather, in the entire shoot.

“It was horizontal rain, gale force winds – it was icy. So actually, all credit to Sam for doing it because I would have dreaded it.”

Men in Kilts launched in April, and the eight-part docuseries saw the actors venture through Scotland, experiencing all kinds of things – from food and drink to sports and ghosts.

The pair decided to explore the rich history of their home country while also showing it to viewers.

As co-stars on hit show Outlander, the two also co-wrote the book Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other.

Outlander fans might be interested in seeing the actors in a different light as they bring out each others’ competitive streaks.

British-American drama Outlander is based on the historical time travel series of novels by Diana Gabaldon.

The show first premiered in August 2014 and has since gone on to produce five seasons.

Series six is also set for a 2022 release, with filming having recently wrapped up.

But fans are already concerned about what this may bring, as ahead of the series’ next season premiere on Starz, some clues have hinted towards the departure of two key players.

Some believe Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger Mackenzie (Richard Rankin) could be saying goodbye to Fraser’s Ridge in the next season.

A new clue spotted from the set of Outlander’s next outing hints that the characters may soon be leaving the show.

Fans took to Reddit to debate what the latest updates from the set could mean when they spotted some locals on Twitter claiming the couple’s cabin had been deconstructed.

One speculated: “The dismantling of R&B cabin proves that they are going ‘back to the future.”

Outlander season 6 will premiere in early 2022 on Starz, while Men in Kilts is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
